Grease Lightening – How I fixed my oily hair!

I am an oily person. Straight up, no messing around pretending to be a glam girl. I have oily hair and oily skin. My hair is naturally straight, fine and shoulder length so bare in mind that what is working for me might not work for you. If you are someone with beautiful, dry, normal hair, you will not appreciate this little tale at all but my fellow oily girls, put down your dry shampoo and listen closely. A few years ago, I remember hearing about this thing called hair training but it sounded a bit daft and made up to be honest. I felt like this was going to…

Self Worth and Gaining new skills with Google Digital Garage

If I asked you ‘how do you measure success?’ or ‘what makes someone successful to you?’, I wonder how you would answer. Would it be the amount of money someone makes, their job role, the size of their house or the make of their car? Or maybe something like how many kids they have? For me, it’s a difficult one to answer with success and the notion of ‘doing well’ being something that I have struggled with and that has impacted my mental health for years. I think because I never really knew what I wanted to do after school, I didn’t have a specific goal in mind for my…

    March Favourites!

Another month has passed us by and I really don’t know where the time has gone! If you didn’t know, I had a baby three weeks ago and I feel like I’ve been in a timewarp ever since not knowing what day it is. Much like my February favourite’s post, here is a round up of the things I’ve been loving this month. Podcast – ‘Shagged Married Annoyed’ by Chris and Rosie Ramsey. I haven’t really had a lot of time to listen to podcasts this month if I’m honest but during the beginning of the month and pretty much all of last year, I’ve let the sound of these…

Look what we made! Birth and New Baby Post

Little disclaimer – this will be full of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes due to my tired messed up brain but I’m leaving it that way as my this is my reality for the moment. It’s been two weeks since I gave birth to our daughter Holly and it’s flown by in a beautiful blur of tears, cuddles, bottles and nappies. The little lady is still finding her feet with when she wants to feed, how much she drinks and how much she sicks up but it’s all going okay. It already feels like so long ago that I was lying on that hospital bed but it’s still fresh enough…

Summary of Lockdowns One, Two and Three

What has faced the world this past year has been unlike anything I, along with the majority of the UK, have ever known or experienced. It has been such a rollercoaster of a journey and I wanted to document a little snapshot of this time to look back on in the future when (hopefully) coronavirus is a word that no longer strikes fear into society. I’ve broken it down into each lockdown we have experienced in England and tried to give a snippet into what life was (and is still) like for me during this pandemic. Lockdown One On the 23rd March 2020, our lives changed forever. We went from…

    The Best Lockdown Beauty Essentials

None of us were prepared for the shut down of the beauty sector last year and although they were able to open for brief periods in between lockdowns, it’s likely that you’ve found yourself in some sort of ‘hairy’ personal care predicament – pun very much intended. I’m not going to pretend that I’m someone who is always in the beauty salon or hairdressers but even I have struggled to maintain what little beauty standards I have so I’m here to share my essentials that have kept me just about presentable over the past year. Eyebrow Tint My absolute favourite product that I’ve discovered during the pandemic is Eyelure Dybrow*…

Virtual Escape Room – Saturday Night Brain Workout with Macmillan

Last Saturday, myself and my family took on the task of solving a series of mind boggling puzzles set out in ‘Trapped! An Escape Room’ by Macmillan Cancer Support. I had seen a random post on Facebook about these game packs that Macmillan were offering and decided to investigate. Macmillan currently offer four different game packs which you can access at home and play virtually with a team. Note that you will need to set up a virgin fundraising page as they recommend giving a donation – the instructions on how to do this are sent to you via email and on the website. Now as I said, we tried…

    February Favourites

Hey all! Thought I’d do a little round of the things I’ve been loving each month including tv series, films, products, podcasts and more. My recommendations might inspire you to find something good to watch, eat or listen to so read on for February’s best bits. Podcast – ‘Making The Cut’ with Davina McCall & Michael Douglass. I’ve recently discovered this podcast and I wasn’t really sure what it was about as the description is very vague but basically Davina and Michael review things. That sounds boring but if you’re a nosey person like me, you’ll love it. They discuss TV shows, products, food and a whole host of other…

    My Pregnancy Journey

Now being a Mam or being pregnant for that matter was never something that I gave much thought to – it was always something that I assumed would happen in the future but I had no set date and time for this part of my life to begin. It wasn’t my priority and I assumed it would happen eventually but I never truly visualised myself as a Mother. Well, that was the case until we found out I was pregnant the day before my 30th birthday. Seeing those two lines was terrifying, crazy and although we weren’t using contraception, the reality came as quite a shock for me. But life…

    First Post!

It’s 03.02.2021. I’m currently writing this having just opened my blog account and website and I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m not very techy but I’m panicking you see. I’m 3 weeks away from my maternity leave start date and incase you didn’t know, maternity pay is terrible! I’ll be paid less than £700 pounds a month for the privilege of wiping a baby’s bum. Now I’m very lucky to have a partner who has a decent job (guess mine is okay too) who can afford to foot the bill for our home and most of the bills during the months that I’ll be keeping our child alive…
